In what has become an annual event, Motor Trend once again decided to put 12 of the world’s best sports cars on a 1/4 mile track to find out which is the fastest for 2013. There isn’t a slouch in the group, either – the entrants were the Nissan GT-R Track Edition, SRT Viper, Jaguar F-Type V-8 S, Aston Martin Vanquish, Mercedes-Benz E63 S AMG, Bentley Continental GT Speed, Porsche Cayman S, Audi R8 V-10 Plus, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series, BMW M6, Ford Focus ST and the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S. Some of the best cars money can buy, coming in at a combined price tag of $1.9 million.
So what were the results? The top 3 finishers, in order, were the Nissan GT-R Track Edition, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series, and the Audi R8 V-10 Plus. Although the Nissan could not reach the top speeds of the Mercedes-Benz SLS Black and the Audi R8, those 2 couldn’t overcome the blazing fast start of the Nissan GT-R due to its excellent traction and mid-range torque. The Mercedes and the Audi were gaining quickly at the end, but couldn’t make up the difference over the 1/4 mile. Very cool idea to put all of these cars together to really see what they could do in comparison to the others. We hope to see more of these videos in the future, and if you enjoyed this one, like and share.
