When the guys at Drag Times got a chance to test out a 2013 SRT Dodge Viper on the 1/4 mile, we bet they jumped at the chance. This monster that was recently unveiled by Dodge is powered by an 8.4L V10 engine that puts out 640 HP and 600 ft-lbs of torque. Talk about burning rubber!
The best run put together was 11.1 @ 127.4 miles-per-hour using the all-new launch control system. The 0-60 time was 3.1 seconds, and 0-100 MPH was 7.1 seconds – not too shabby. According to Drag Times, part of the reason that kept their time out of the 10-second range may be the long 1st gear with this new model, which you can see seems to bog the car down around the 60 foot mark. The launch control, used during their best run, allows the SRT Viper to rev and hold at 5.5k RPM. A manual launch achieved similar but slightly worse results. What do you think – would you like to get behind the wheel of one of these new vipers? If you would, make sure you like and share!
